If you are planning a portrait session in Utah County, you already know we are spoiled when it comes to scenery. But finding the right spot, one that has gorgeous light, is not overrun with people, and gives you that dreamy soft background, can feel overwhelming. Trust me, I have done a lot of scouting.
As a Utah County photographer I spend a lot of time finding locations that shine during golden hour, that magical window just before sunset where everything goes warm and soft and glowy. Here are three of my favorites that consistently deliver.
If you want that classic Utah mountain feel without a long hike, Big Springs Park is a dream. Located on the backside of Vivian Park in Provo Canyon, it has wide open spaces, mature trees, and incredible mountain views. Because it is tucked away, the light filters through beautifully as the sun goes down and creates that soft romantic glow that is perfect for portraits.
Vivian Park is one of my absolute favorites because of how much variety you get in one easy location. The Provo River, tall mature trees, stunning mountain peaks, a rustic little bridge, and even a vintage train that adds so much character. During golden hour the sun dips behind the canyon walls and creates the most incredibly soft flattering light. It is hard to take a bad photo here honestly.
If you love tall grass, rustic fences, and sweeping valley views, Jolley's Ranch in Springville is a hidden gem. It has a much more open pastoral feel than the canyons which means you get a longer golden hour window. The light here is soft and warm and it is one of my favorite spots for that light and airy portrait look.

I believe photos should feel genuine and look timeless, images that you will treasure for years to come. I aim to capture the warmth of who you are and the moments that matter most.
